Hi, On this page, I would like to tell you a little about myself and the history of 6forafiver.

First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Malcolm Scott and I first lived in Sheffield in August 2019 after returning to the UK from Phuket, Thailand where I had lived for the previous 15 years. While I was there, I helped my wife open a small beach resort called Seaside Cottages on some beach land belonging to her family. Before I moved to Thailand in 2004,I ran a successful market stall and online business called Ringmania, selling Fashion Jewellery and Hair Accessories. I was also an accomplished musician having worked in various bands as a bass player around the UK and Europe. I sold everything to go and live in Thailand and get married. I thought that I could retire at around 40 years old but soon got bored doing very little and walking on the beach with my dogs everyday. I was even collecting seeds at the side of the road in Phuket to sell on Ebay just for something to do. After about 5 years just bumming around after the Asian Tsunami, I decided with my wife to finally start building the resort at the local beach. It started as a self sufficient backpacker resort and campsite called Seafront Camping and Restaurant. As I was a fully qualified Electronics Engineer, I designed a solar and wind powered system which went well with the idea of being Eco-friendly. I was still running the website for Ringmania at the time and buying stuff from Bangkok to sell via the website for my ex-partner/girlfriend to post from the UK. This was very successful for a while until we both decided to chuck it all in and go our separate ways. From there I concentrated my efforts into building the business in Thailand. As a self taught web designer since working at Ringmania and with various bands in the UK I used some of my former skills to build a website for Seaside Cottages. It soon became more like a job as the resort became successful which encouraged me to take a back seat in the business.

UK or Thailand?

As we had a son of school age and the education system in Thailand was not the best, I decided to return to the UK for the boy’s schooling at least. He had been attending a pre-school which was run by a teacher from India who was moving to Sheffield to further her studies. As my sister lived in the locality, I also decided to settle in Sheffield. Work was actually an afterthought and I re-opened a website that I still owned to sell hair accessories. In early 2020 I started selling on markets again but soon got refused entry to the main indoor market in Sheffield if I traded in hair products. I think this was probably because the existing traders had complained about me for selling similar products at lower prices than they were themselves. Not long after that the Coronavirus Pandemic was announced and several lockdowns occurred across the UK where many people were afraid to touch anything which had been handled by others. As schools had also been closed, I was forced to give up work and homeschool my son. In April of that year, I purchased the domain 6forafiver.co.uk with the idea that I could replace the void that shops like Poundland had created by increasing their prices, The country was still in lockdown and I think that many people in the UK were now used to being reclusive and keeping away from people as well as products. Finally in 2022, I set up an online shop at this website to sell a few Iron on patches that I had left over from my time spent in Thailand. Today I am still trading as 6forafiver and you can see the latest products that are available to buy online for only a pound each or 6 for a fiver in the online shop. For more expensive items but still at great value, Please refer to my Etsy Shop or my listings at Ebay. Please share this website with your friends on Social Media using the links below and/or leave a comment. I hope you are happy with the products available
